Color in science and art: In this course we will try to understand the nature of color and we will learn how humans perceive color. We will get acquainted with the properties of complementary colors and how painters use them to create vibrant works of art. We will practice our visual perception through an experiment on the afterimage phenomenon. We will learn the secrets of color mixing in light and painting and how to create a painting with the feeling of depth! Finally we will see how the scientific knowledge on the phenomenon of color has affected the artists of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism/Pointillism, during the turn of the
19th century in Europe, and we will try out their techniques.
